1974 PONTIAC TRANS AM 455 SUPER DUTY

Lot # 699.1 (Sale Order: 109 of 221)

The 1974 Pontiac Trans Am Super Duties were the very last of the high performance cars from the 70s. A total of 943 were produced for the 1974 model year. Of that number only 212 were equipped with the Pontiac 455 Super Duty engine and 4-speed transmission like this car. It was originally owned by a Pontiac Division engineer as his personal car. This car comes from a private collection. It has one repaint in the original color of Admiralty Blue with a black bucket seat interior. It also sports all-virgin original sheet metal with extremely nice paint. It has a complete matching-numbers drivetrain with a recent rebuild of the original engine. The history of the Super Duty is legendary. However a little-known fact is that all the 455 Super Duty engines were literally hand-built race engines as an off-assembly-line operation. This was unheard of for a production vehicle especially during the time of detuning and emissions regulations. Included with this car are copies of all PHS paperwork along with numerous Pontiac Division blueprints and engineering data on the Super Duty program that were kept by this Pontiac engineer.

Vehicle descriptions are provided exclusively by the consignor. Barrett-Jackson does not make representations or warranties about vehicles offered for sale at auction.
