1979 PONTIAC FIREBIRD TRANS AM 1979 PONTIAC FIREBIRD TRANS AM

1979 PONTIAC FIREBIRD TRANS AM

Lot #635.1 (Sale Order 635 of 221)

This Y84 Special Edition WS6 black and gold Smokey and the Bandit car has 60000 original miles. It was frame-off restored. This is the last of the Pontiac-powered 4-speed muscle cars. 1979 marked the last year Pontiac produced a big 400ci-powered Trans Am. This is one of 1107 produced. This also was the first year for 4-wheel disc brakes. This car has many unique qualities. Restore A Muscle Car was contracted by a GM executive to locate and restore a rare low-production 1979 Trans Am - this is that very car. A clean car was procured for the extensive restoration. This was a tenuous restoration that literally consumed 2700 man hours. The TA was completely disassembled and stripped to bare metal. The frame was removed and the entire drivetrain was rebuilt. The body of this vehicle was gone over from front to back and the body fit is laser-straight and better than new. Once the body was prepared it was given a fresh coat of the correct Starlight Black (code 19) using the best modern Spies Hecker base coat/clear coat paint. It was wet-sanded to a mirror finish. The black interior was carefully restored as well. The frame was stripped and all chassis components were replaced and/or refinished in the correct original factory finishes. The engine was sent out and completely rebuilt. The 400ci 6.6-liter Pontiac engine block was honed and new pistons rings and bearings installed. The crank was checked and lightly refinished. The 6X heads were checked and given a valve job along with new valves and valve springs. Everything was reassembled and the entire engine assembly was given a coat of the correct Pontiac engine paint. No stone was left unturned and the interior was completely redone with nothing but the best of correct materials. All instruments and gauges were checked for operation and repaired or replaced if necessary. All wire harnesses were replaced as needed. This car comes with a complete set of Pontiac Historic Services (PHS) paperwork and Pontiac Division Window Sticker and was signed by Burt Reynolds.

1971 PONTIAC GTO JUDGE 1971 PONTIAC GTO JUDGE

1971 PONTIAC GTO JUDGE

Lot #659 (Sale Order 659 of 221)

This GTO Judge is one of only 357 produced. Very desirable it comes equipped with the original born-with 455 high-output engine 4-speed transmission and is an original-sheet-metal car. It was built on March 3 1971 at the assembly plant in Pontiac MI. Upon completion this car was shipped to Canada for delivery to the first registered owner. The Judge was completely disassembled and stripped to bare metal. The frame was removed and the entire drivetrain was rebuilt. The body of this vehicle was gone over from front to back and the body fit is laser-straight and better than new. Once the body was prepared it was given a fresh coat of the correct Cameo White (code 11) using the best modern DuPont base coat/clear coat paint. The blue interior was carefully restored as well. The frame was stripped and all chassis components were replaced and/or refinished in the correct original factory finishes. The engine was sent out and completely rebuilt. The 455ci HO engine block was honed and new pistons rings and bearings installed. The crank was checked and lightly refinished. The HO cylinder heads were checked and given a valve job along with new valves and valve springs. Everything was reassembled and the entire engine assembly was given a coat of the correct Pontiac engine paint. No stone was left unturned and the interior was completely redone with nothing but the best of correct materials. All instruments and gauges were checked for operation and repaired or replaced if necessary. All wire harnesses were replaced with new. The frame-off restoration was finished earlier this year by Restore A Muscle Car out of Lincoln NE. This car comes with a complete set of Pontiac Historic Services (PHS) paperwork and Pontiac Division Window Sticker.

1940 FORD BOYD CODDINGTON 1940 FORD BOYD CODDINGTON

1940 FORD BOYD CODDINGTON

Lot #683 (Sale Order 683 of 221)

Ford built over a half-million passenger cars in 1940 but only 8730 of these were wood-bodied DeLuxe station wagons. This Boyd Coddington work-in-progress started life as one of them but is now midway through its custom transformation. All body panels are original steel including large portions of the floorpan. The maple ash and basswood wooden wagon structure still contains some bits from the original Ford Iron Mountain with some reproduction parts mixed in. The straight body rests on a custom square-tube steel frame with the same type of DeDion-style rear suspension as the coupe and convertible though temporary rigid rods replace the rear springs to maintain ride height during assembly. The engine bay and firewall exhibit the result of many hours of custom fabrication. Theres plenty of cowl area for a modern V8 engine and all surfaces have been blended and smoothed before being covered in gray primer; it doesnt take much imagination to envision the finished result. If the same level of quality execution is directed at the final assembly this stunning Woody stands ready to stun onlookers on the street and show field. **TITLE IN TRANSIT**

Lot #685 (Sale Order 685 of 221)

Austin-Healey production started in 1953 with the 4-cylinder 100-4 model. In 1956 a new 6-cylinder model was introduced with revised bodywork that included two small rear jump seats for children. A very extensive restoration on this car was finished in August 2010 by Healey Lane Restoration of Oregon. It is finished in the original Old English White exterior Sikkens base coat/clear coat paint with black leather and vinyl interior. It has the original factory hardtop as well as a new soft-top. The restoration included new chrome rubber hydraulic system wiring harness fuel system stainless wire wheels with new tires side curtains carpet and extensive mechanical restoration. The original fasteners were replated. Two upgrades were made: 3000 disc brakes and an overdrive transmission which was an option but this car came from the factory without overdrive. 1974 PONTIAC TRANS AM 455 SUPER DUTY

Lot #699.1 (Sale Order 699 of 221)

The 1974 Pontiac Trans Am Super Duties were the very last of the high performance cars from the 70s. A total of 943 were produced for the 1974 model year. Of that number only 212 were equipped with the Pontiac 455 Super Duty engine and 4-speed transmission like this car. It was originally owned by a Pontiac Division engineer as his personal car. This car comes from a private collection. It has one repaint in the original color of Admiralty Blue with a black bucket seat interior. It also sports all-virgin original sheet metal with extremely nice paint. It has a complete matching-numbers drivetrain with a recent rebuild of the original engine. The history of the Super Duty is legendary. However a little-known fact is that all the 455 Super Duty engines were literally hand-built race engines as an off-assembly-line operation. This was unheard of for a production vehicle especially during the time of detuning and emissions regulations. Included with this car are copies of all PHS paperwork along with numerous Pontiac Division blueprints and engineering data on the Super Duty program that were kept by this Pontiac engineer.

1967 PONTIAC FIREBIRD CONVERTIBLE VIN #001

Lot #747 (Sale Order 747 of 221)

Presented from a private collection are the very first production Firebirds built VIN #001 and #002. They are the most significant Firebirds ever produced and a huge piece of GM and automotive history built at the Pontiac Lordstown OH assembly plant in early 1967. The body tags on each are labeled Show Body 1 on this convertible and Show Body 4 on the coupe. Both cars were used for auto show and advertising purposes before being eventually released and sold. By 1966 the race was really heating up between the big three manufacturers to dominate the pony-car muscle movement that had become so hot. The release of Firebird in 1967 came about under the direction of John DeLorean as a Vice President of General Motors and Pontiac Division General Manager. Pontiacs Chief Design Engineer Jack Humbert was assigned the task of developing the car. He commissioned his very best Pontiac designers for the job. The Firebird was born with a uniquely different appearance and engineering features than its sister car the Camaro although they shared a common body structure. Visually the Pontiac F-body as it was called came with a split-nose grille and chrome bumper a lowered stance wide oval tires horizontal headlights and taillights along with Rally-style side vents. The new Firebird certainly stood out from the crowd. Although Pontiac Firebird was a late entry to the race in January 1967 the car dominated not only in popularity and performance but sales went through the roof. The 1967 Firebird dominated the Pontiac showrooms as well selling in excess of 82000 units that first year even with a late release. Both this convertible and the VIN #002 coupe are very significant Firebirds that were found together; they have been together all these years and never separated. Discovered in a very tired and sad condition they were rescued and painstakingly restored to bring them back to their former glory. 2-speed automatic transmission. **SOLD AS A PAIR WITH LOT 747.1**
